Creator Agreement
Last updated 7 August 2026
This draft agreement sets out how selling on Scholar Speech works between you as the creator and Scholar Speech. It is under legal review and applies in full only once live sales are enabled.
Revenue share
You receive 80% and the platform retains 20% of the amount remaining after applicable tax and payment processing costs are deducted from the buyer's payment. The platform share is revenue, not profit: it funds hosting, AI and audio generation, storage, payment processing, support, security, development and administration.
Payouts
Payouts are made through a regulated payment provider. Scholar Speech does not hold, move or store your funds itself. Payout schedules, minimum thresholds and the identity checks required by the provider will be published here before live sales begin.
Refunds and chargebacks are deducted from your balance in the same proportion as the original sale. Reversals are recorded permanently and never delete the original transaction.
Tax and reporting
You are responsible for declaring your earnings and paying any tax due in your own country. Depending on where you and the platform are located, marketplace reporting obligations may require us to collect and report information about your sales. Those requirements are being assessed; we will notify you before any reporting applies.
Rights in your work
You keep ownership of everything you upload. You grant us a non-exclusive licence to host, convert to speech, stream, display and promote your work on the platform for as long as it is listed, and to keep transaction records afterwards as required by law.
You confirm you hold the rights to everything you upload, including any third-party text, artwork, music or voice, and that your work does not infringe anyone else's rights.
Content rules
You must not list work that:
- is unlawful, or infringes copyright, trademark or personality rights
- depicts minors sexually or promotes violence, hate or harassment
- impersonates a real person's voice or likeness without their permission
- misrepresents what the buyer receives
We may remove a listing, withhold a payout, or close an account for serious or repeated breaches, for fraud or chargeback abuse, or where a valid rights-holder complaint is received. You can appeal by writing to support@scholarspeech.com.
Changes and termination
You may unlist your work at any time; existing buyers keep access to what they have already purchased. We will give reasonable notice before changing the revenue share, and any change applies only to sales made after it takes effect.
